    No 37 of 1978 [7TH September 1978] An Act establishes a Press council for the purpose of preserving the freedom of the Press and of maintaining the standards of newspaper and news agencies in India. Be it enacted by Parliament in the Twenty-ninth Year of the Republic of India as follows:
